International Women’s Day 2010 – ‘Women Building Bridges’
WOMEN BUILDING BRIDGES – is an International Women’s Day 2010 Art Exhibition and Programme opening in The Women’s Centre on Monday 8th March.
Women Building Bridges Exhibition will be hosted by a number of cultural venues: The Eden Place Arts Centre, Derry City Council’s Tower Museum, The Women’s Centre, The Verbal Arts Centre and VOID and will run from Monday 8th March to Saturday 27th March (inclusive).
Exhibition Launches will be held by venues in the w/c 8th March and Tours will be provided. Artworks showcase individual and collective creativity, demonstrating a willingness to engage in community bridge building, in Derry Londonderry and beyond.
International Women’s Day historically is a day marked by women worldwide to highlight social realities, and the Women Building Bridges Exhibition is accompanied by a Discussion programme.
The project has been developed by a coalition of Groups including Eden Place Arts Centre, Derry City Heritage and Museum Services, The Women’s Centre, The Verbal Arts Centre, Children in Crossfire, VOID, Waterside Women’s Centre, and Freelance Coordinator Ruth Moore, with many other contributions being made by artists and performers, various other organisations and individuals.
The project is funded by Derry City Council Community Relations programme.
